The Floyd Central Highlander Band and Emerald Guard have made history by securing the runner-up position in the ISSMA Open Class B State Finals, marking the highest placement in the school's history.
This remarkable achievement is a testament to the dedication and talent of the students, directors, and volunteers who have worked tirelessly throughout the season.
The band's performance at Lucas Oil Stadium captivated the audience and judges alike, showcasing their musical excellence and precision.
Under the leadership of Director Scott Cooksey and Assistant Director Jacqueline Johnson, the band has demonstrated exceptional growth and commitment.
Drum Majors Caleb Boff, Isabelle Haley, Elizabeth Lebow, and Ben Sprigler have played pivotal roles in guiding the ensemble to this historic success.
Their 2024 show, titled "To the Point", featured a diverse repertoire including "Ara Batur" by Sigur RĂłs and "Before Time" by Thomas Bergersen, highlighting the band's versatility and artistic expression.
In addition to their state finals success, the band earned a Gold Rating at the South Regional and advanced as a finalist in the Semi-State competition, further solidifying their reputation for excellence.
The Floyds Knobs community is immensely proud of the Highlander Band and Emerald Guard for their outstanding accomplishments this season.
