Jeffersonville residents have a new reason to embrace the outdoors with the opening of the 'Hike the Pike' trail.
This 1.2-mile, 8-foot-wide path runs along the north side of Utica Pike, connecting Allison Lane to Six Mile Lane.
Designed for both walkers and cyclists, the trail offers a safe and scenic route through the city.
Thanks to funding from the Jeffersonville Redevelopment Commission, the trail includes trailhead parking and push-button crosswalk signage at each end, enhancing safety for all users.
Mayor Mike Moore emphasized the trail's role in promoting active lifestyles and strengthening community ties.
He noted that the project aligns with Jeffersonville's broader efforts to enhance public spaces and encourage outdoor activities.
The 'Hike the Pike' trail is part of a series of developments aimed at improving the city's infrastructure and quality of life.
Recent investments include the construction of an $800 million data center by Meta Platforms Inc., expected to create 100 permanent jobs and support 1,250 construction jobs at peak times.
Additionally, 1440 Foods is set to open a new production facility in Jeffersonville, representing a $60 million investment and creating numerous employment opportunities.
These developments, alongside the new trail, reflect Jeffersonville's commitment to fostering a vibrant and connected community.
