Maker13 and Youth Link Southern Indiana to Expand Educational and Entrepreneurial Opportunities |
In a significant boost to local education and entrepreneurship, Meta has awarded a $150,000 grant to two Jeffersonville organizations: Maker13 and Youth Link Southern Indiana.
This funding aims to enhance STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education and foster entrepreneurial initiatives within the community.
Mayor Mike Moore emphasized the broader impact of such support, stating, "When our schools receive backing, the entire community thrives."
He highlighted that the program is already creating opportunities for children that were previously out of reach, expressing gratitude for the investment from Meta and the Jeffersonville Data Center.
This grant aligns with Meta's ongoing commitment to Jeffersonville, following their announcement of an $800 million data center in the city.
Scheduled to be operational by 2026, the facility is expected to generate approximately 100 permanent jobs and support 1,250 construction jobs at its peak.
Additionally, Jeffersonville has been experiencing a surge in development projects aimed at enhancing the quality of life for its residents.
In December 2024, the Our Southern Indiana Regional Development Authority allocated over $3.6 million through the READI 2.0 initiative to projects across the region, including Jeffersonville.
These funds are designated to increase childcare availability, supporting area families and enabling continued community and economic growth.
Furthermore, the city broke ground on Springdale Meadow in June 2024, a new neighborhood located at 61 Louise Street, off East 10th Street.
The development plans to build 10 new homes by fall 2024, with prices starting at $260,000, providing much-needed housing options for the growing community.
These initiatives, coupled with Meta's substantial investments, underscore a period of dynamic growth and revitalization in Jeffersonville, promising a brighter future for its residents. |
