Southern Indiana Residents Encouraged to Apply for Assistance Starting November 7 |
In response to the recent reductions in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, Metro United Way has committed $500,000 to the Hardship to Hope Food Relief Fund, aiming to support families in Kentucky and Indiana facing food insecurity.
Beginning Friday, November 7, residents of Southern Indiana can apply for Kroger gift cards through the relief fund. Apply here,or individuals can call 211, where a trusted community partner will assist with eligibility screening and provide the gift cards.
The reduction in SNAP benefits has significantly impacted many families. According to recent reports, approximately 600,000 Indiana residents will not receive their SNAP benefits for November due to the ongoing government shutdown. This situation has led to increased reliance on local food pantries and community support systems.
