Scottsburg celebrated its storied basketball tradition on September 6, 2025, by dedicating the revamped courts at Beechwood Park to the high school teams who brought state championship glory: the 1989 Warriorettes and the 2024 Warriors.
Fans, civic leaders, and alumni gathered in honor of the teams, underscoring the strong sense of community pride that defines Scottsburg. Mayor Terry Amick highlighted basketballās lasting legacy for future generations.
The Warriorettesā 1989 championship run remains a treasured local milestone, while the Warriorsā 2024 Class 3A title ā the schoolās first boysā basketball crown ā cements the cityās place in Indiana hoops history. Both championship rosters were celebrated for inspiring a new era of athletic achievement.
The dedication fits into wider community upgrades, including a $1.875 million infrastructure boost for the new Maple Run Estates and Conco, Inc.ās $71.4 million facility expansion, which is set to create 175 local jobs.

Trinity United Methodist Church in New Albany, Indiana has launched a heartfelt project to help the local homeless community by turning used plastic bags into sturdy sleeping mats.
Each Tuesday, volunteers gather at the churchās Mission Depot, cutting and weaving thousands of bags to create mats that offer warmth and protection outdoors.
It takes about 1,000 bags and up to 20 hours of work to finish one mat, with each piece made carefully by hand and fitted with a carrying strap for convenience.
So far, volunteers have completed more than 50 mats, distributing them around southern Indiana and even sending some to aid people in other parts of the world.
The church encourages anyone with time or spare, clean grocery bags to join the effort or donate.
